Tlingit introduction

Above is the Tlingit introduction from the Sealaska website. It is not the full introduction but it is a start.  I included the Tlingit introduction because I want to learn how to say it soon and continue to learn my language. The toughest part about learning about identity and working on this cultural identity ePortfolio project is finding out that language is tied to your identity and within a language is the history, social roles, genealogy, traditions, and more.

Hand tattoo

This is the H5P app that I used to explain the tattoo on my hand. This tattoo represents my purpose and what I am passionate about. It is one of the reasons why I chose to switch my degree from nursing to health education. As a nurse I could only help individuals, but as a health educator I could create prevention and interventions program that would be for communities rather than individuals. I wanted to be able to include culture into prevention and intervention programs and I found it difficult to do that as a nurse, but I am not saying it cannot be done. I just found that was not my strong suit and felt that a degree related to public health aligned with my purpose, passion, and values.
